Comedian lets us in on Vegas’ most impressive attributes
Impressionist-comedian Gordie Brown has made Las Vegas his home for many years now and just received a two-year extension at the Golden Nugget, where he performs five nights a week. The multifaceted Brown has released a book of caricatures, a musical album called As I Am, finished the songwriting for a second album and is set to contribute more caricatures to a new extreme sports magazine. The funnyman took a minute to share his favorite things in Vegas with Las Vegas Magazine’s Nina King.
I love the Thai food at Lillie’s Asian Cuisine in the Golden Nugget. I also love Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse. I like Capo’s (5675 W. Sahara Ave.), it’s got a mob theme and I like the atmosphere of a darker restaurant. I have the spaghetti Bolognese and I always have Opus One wine there. I go to Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab at The Forum Shops at Caesars when the stone crabs are in season-—the filet mignon is really outstanding.
Man Cave Cigar Lounge
It has an incredible selection of cigars and then there’s a seating area with big screens and a bunch of other TVs. It plays all the sporting events. It’s wonderful. My favorite cigar is Opus X Torpedo No. 2. (855 Seven Hills Drive, Henderson, Nev.)
Vegas! The Show
That was awesome to see. It’s a throwback to the day. It’s very well put together and it’s very original. It’s great to see a live orchestra.
The Sport Center of Las Vegas (121 E. Sunset Road) is really great. My dad loves playing golf and we’ve gone there several times. And I love the roller coaster at New York-New York.
I’m a pen collector and I love their selection at Montblanc at The Forum Shops at Caesars. I always have to stop by there … I was a political cartoonist and that attraction pulls me in like a magnet. I also go to Damincci Jewelers in The District at Green Valley Ranch.
The Spa at Green Valley Ranch
It’s awesome. I love it for massages and, every now and then, a pedicure.
Red Rock is phenomenal. I go there often for hikes and also just for driving in the spring and fall.
